Testicular Cancer Awareness

Use #TalkAboutTC

to help raise awareness and end deaths from testicular cancer in Ohio

Your Voice is Powerful

Lack of awareness about testicular cancer and delays seeking care lead to late diagnosis, increased treatment burdens and unfortunate loss of life. This lack of awareness is one of the biggest challenges we face.

Testicular cancer is the leading cause of cancer in guys age 15-35, although it can occur at any age. This means that there are quite a few guys, especially in the high risk age group that need to know about testicular cancer.

So where do we start? With You!!

We need your help in reaching guys in Ohio and making sure they are aware of testicular cancer. They also need to hear the message more than once and from different sources that is why it is so important to have you lend your voice so others around you can hear.

Do You #TalkAboutTC?

We asked 1,000 guys in Ohio age 18-34 if their Parent, Doctor, Coach, High School Teacher/Nurse or College Professor/Nurse spoke to them about testicular cancer and 72% said none of them had spoken to them about testicular cancer.

Chart Showing Who is Speaking About Testicular Cancer

#TalkAboutTC conversations don’t have to be long but they have to have social currency of coming from those close to the guys. Guys need to hear about testicular cancer at home from their parents, from their schools, from their coaches, from their doctors, from their employers, from their social groups and from their civic leaders. You voice is powerful so please lend it to #TalkAboutTC

We can easily be overwhelmed by the numbers and throw our hands in the air. In Ohio there are: 5,632,156 males with 1,507,111 males ages 15-34 (27% of the male population) being at the highest risk according to age alone. There are 616 School Districts with 973 High Schools that teach 420,975 male students between the ages of 15-19 and approximately 379 Post-secondary Education Institutions. However, if we each just try to reach the few guys around us with a simple message then we will reach them all!

It’s not just about the guys either!! Reaching just guys will not be effective. The women in guy’s lives are often the ones that drive healthy living and encourage them to see a doctor so we need their help in hearing and repeating the messages.

If you know a guy then you can help!
